The course includes 11 days comprehensive training, followed by 12 days of work placement and 2 final days of debriefing the course, additional training and assessments.

On completion of the course, participants will be qualified with a Certificate III in Aged Care including First Aid - CHC30208, which will allow them to work in a variety of job roles in the health industry.

The most common job role for this qualification is that of personal carer. Personal carer's perform duties such as: Showering, Feeding, Toileting, Manual Handling, Client Transport and Emotional Support.

• Use and types of transport equipment including wheelchairs
• Bed making * Falls prevention * Hazards and incident reports
• Manual handling practical * Mental health * Dementia
• Palliative care * Loss and grief * Pressure area care
• Promoting comfort * Emergency response * Documentation
• Care plans * ACFI * Time management * Workplace teams

Week 3 (Monday)

• Conflict resolution * Self disclosure * Negotiation skills
• Leadership * Communication * Peer review

Weeks 3 to 5

• Workplacement into Aged Care Facility.
• Return to Success Fast Track for an additional 2 days to debrief workplacement experience, additional training in Applied First Aid, First aid assessment and finalise assessments and celebration.

Prerequisites for potential students:

◦Have the physical capacity to work as a Personal Care Worker

◦Pass literacy and numeracy testing

◦Be committed to learning

◦Positive attitude and caring value towards the elderly

◦Be able to pass a National Police Clearance in order to gain employment in the Community Services industry

◦Be willing to participate in workplace experience (un-paid) for up to 3 weeks
